Cosmic Surrealism — Between Worlds

defines Xela’s artistic universe: a visual language exploring worlds between perception and reality.

Born in Austria and shaped by over two decades in the Netherlands, Xela developed a transnational perspective rooted in movement, introspection, and transformation. A formative six-month stay in Cape Town/South Africa, during the late 1990s further expanded her visual language and inspired her African painting series.

Working intuitively, her paintings emerge as symbolic spaces where memory, instinct, and cosmic energy dissolve into one another. Recurring archetypal forms — portals, celestial structures, and animal presences — appear as metaphors for transformation and unseen dimensions of human experience.

As founder of Cosmic Surrealism, Xela’s practice evolves beyond traditional surrealism into a distinct personal cosmology suspended between dream, perception, and inner worlds.
